With conventional oil-filled shock absorbers, intensive use can cause the formation of oil foam, which can reduce damping force by up to 35% at higher temperatures. To solve this problem, we developed the BILSTEIN gas pressure technology in the 1950s. With the first series installation of gas pressure monotube shock absorbers at Mercedes-Benz in 1957, we have firmly established gas pressure technology in automotive construction to this day - in monotube and twin-tube versions. This means reliable damping and suspension regardless of the demands, and greater safety reserves in all dynamic driving situations.
